Days 5
17th March, Friday. Wind blew strong.
In the afternoon, I had a meeting. Then just when I was going back from Shinjuku to Shibuya, I read the news from government. There might be strong possibilities about a sudden and big blackout in Tokyo in the evening.
Oh no! We used electricity for warming in our store very little!
Anyway, we kept opening our store as same as usual. But the blackout news were getting louder.
We were so afraid of a sudden disconnection of pc server. Also afraid that this building might be closed automatically and we couldn't get out. And I Thought if we could get out from here safely, railway stations must be in trouble for hours.
I knew there would be very interesting concerts (two days) in Shibuya Club Quattro. It was called "Katte Ni EXNE - Music for TOHOKU". From our store, that venue was ten minutes walk away. In fact, I had been thinking about it to go and see.
I was still afraid of blackout, but I made my mind to go there.
When I arrived at the building, I saw a tiny handbill on the wall. It just said "We do tonight." I walked up stairs to fourth floor (all the elevators and escalator were down due to the preparation for blackout.). When I was getting closer to the entrance of the fourth floor, I heard John Sebastian singing. Someone played his old record "John B. Sebastian" by a small portable record player instead of usual background music in this venue. It was nice.
Many musicians were there to play. Also I saw many audience.
The fifth floor was a large stage for bands, and the fourth floor was smaller. They used two stages each by each.
I saw BanBanBazar (they were supervisers of this event), Mari Nakamura, and Charanporantan. It was fun to see. unfortunately, I had to go back home then.
I noticed all the doors left open during the shows. Because they had to prepare for a sudden breakout.
Usually they close all the doors because for their privacy or their loudness. But today, all the musicians here played accoustically and no need to close doors.
I wish they could took away all the windows and walls of this building so that people in Shibuya city could hear they sing.
I got a news that there were gonna be no blackout tonight. From Shibuya to Asagaya, trains were almost vacant. Blackout panic was almot over.
I walked from Asagaya station to my house. I saw many stars more than before.
The future we live may be getting darker, but stars will be brighter.

3月17日（木）、今日も風がつよい。
昼過ぎ、新宿で打ち合わせを終えて
ハイファイに戻ろうとしているとき
電力供給の不足懸念から
東京都内で突然の大規模停電が起きる可能性があるという発表を知った。
そんなあ。
ハイファイは暖房もめちゃくちゃ控えて営業しているのに。
あ、
お客さんは上着を着ているので平気ですよ。
それでも粛々と営業をつづけていたが
くらくなりはじめたあたりから世の中の緊張度があがりはじめた。
ハイファイのPCサーバーも
突然の停電に備えて万全の準備をするためと、
ビル自体がクローズされてしまう可能性のため、
そして
何よりも帰宅時間と重なった大混乱が予想されるため、
急遽お店をいつもより早じまいすることに。
実は今日明日と
バンバンバザールの福島康之さん主宰で
（フリーペーパー「ramblin'」の協力もあり）
渋谷クラブクアトロで
東北震災チャリティの無料ライヴが行われることになっていた。
どのみち
お店をちょっと抜け出して
クアトロまでのぞきに行こうと思っていたのだ。
情報によると
山手線渋谷駅をはじめ
都内のメイン・ターミナルは入場規制がかかるほど混乱しているというし、
いつ停電になっちゃうかわからないけど、
クアトロに寄り道して帰ることにした。
クアトロの入っているビルの前まで来ると
1階から3階までは当然のように営業中止。
しかし
入り口に「決行します」と手書きされたチラシを発見。
エレベーターもエスカレーターも止まっているので
徒歩で4階まであがると
ジョン・セバスチャンの歌声が聞こえてきた。
ライヴハウスのBGM代わりに
ちいさなポータブル・プレイヤーで
レコードをかけていたのだ。
急な呼びかけ、
そしてこの非常事態にもかかわらず、
多くのアーティストと
けっしてすくなくない観客が詰めかけていた。
ライヴは
5階のメイン・ステージと
4階の弾き語り的なサブ・ステージを
効果的に活用しながら進行されるのだという。
家に帰ってとりかからないといけない仕事の都合もあり
ライヴは
感動的なトップバッターをつとめたバンバンバザール、
中村まり、
チャラン・ポ・ランタンという不思議な女性デュオまでしか見られなかった。超うしろ髪をひかれながら退出。
突発的な停電にそなえて
楽屋口やライヴフロアーの入り口も
開け放たれていたのが印象的だった。
どのみち
全員アンプラグドでやるのだから
音を閉め切る必要はない。
いやむしろ
このビルの窓や壁をすべてとりはらって
外に音が響けばいいのにと思った。
渋谷駅まで向かう途中で
今日の停電の危険性がなくなったことを知った。
そして山手線も総武線も
気が抜けるほど空いていた。
旧中杉通りを家まであるく。
空には
いつもより星が多い。
ぼくたちの行く末は当分くらいのかもしれないけど
きっとこの先も星はあかるい。

バンバンバザール主宰によるこのイベント
「勝手にEXNE 〜 Music for TOHOKU」
3月18日（金）もおこなわれます。
