Days 19
31th March, Thursday. At last, this month reached at the end all the way.
Near by Asagaya station, there is one restaurant that sells whole chickens. Today I saw the advertisement that they sells whole chickens cheaper than usual for a half year anniversary.
I have to confess now, I used to eat whole chikens when I was in the States. It was so cheap that I could buy easier. I thought that eating whole chickens are like the dream for us, grown-up men.
And then, I got a little flashback.
At that night, 10th March in Seattle, that was, 11th March in the afternoon in Japan, I was eating a whole chicken. I was watching "30 Rock" on TV, and biting a thigh, drinking beer, then saw the top page of Yahoo! Japan.
That was the start.
I thought of my situation that day, was it like a song of Randy Newman's? No, no. He doesn't write such a silly situation.
But also I thought of a series of Japanese translations of Randy Newman songs. Actually, the traslations are written in natural Kansai words and accent. Once I found them at somewhere. Those were ruder than Tokyo accent but more intimate to us. I mean, those were exellent!
I know the real Randy Newman doesn't write a song for me, But the Kansai version of Randy Newman possibly could do that.
I heard a rumor that those fabulous translations were made by Hiromichi Hosoma. But I don't know for sure.
And also I might be seeing him one time some years ago in Kyoto. I was invited a DJ party by Hiroshi Ban and played some records there. I kind of remember that I had a greeting from him. After that he gave me an e-mail. But now I lost that, and no proof. I have to ask myself again and again, "Did I meet him?".
Currently, Hiromichi Hosoma is the professoer of the University of Shiga Prefecture. And he is the great singer/songwriter named "Kaerumoku".
I listend to Kaerume's new album (3rd) a few days ago and had a deep impression from the song called "Manga Toshi (Manga City)".
I hope that the guy I met at Kyoto was him. Also I hope that the lost e-mail
was from him. I hope that the fabulous translater of Randy Newman was him. And I hope I knew him already.

いろんなことがありすぎた3月が終わる。
阿佐ヶ谷駅のそばに
チキンの丸焼きを売っている店がある。
開店半周年記念（？）だかで
今、丸焼きをサービス価格で販売している。
恥をしのんで告白すると
アメリカにいるときは
この丸焼きをよく食べていた。
日本円にして5〜600円という安価も魅力だし、
一度はまるっと食べこなしてみるのも
男の（ばかな）ロマンのひとつだろう（未だ完食経験なし）。
今日、
ふと足が止まったのは
アメリカ時間3月10日の夜、
すなわち
日本時間3月11日の午後も
ぼくはこの丸焼きを食べているところだった、
そのことを思い出したからだ。
大好きなティナ・フェイ主演のドラマ「30 ROCK」を見ながら
胴体からねぶり取った腿肉をほおばって
ビールで流し込み、
ふとPCの画面に映るYahoo!のトップページを眺めた。
それが
“その直前”だったのだ。
なんだか
ランディ・ニューマンに歌詞にしてもらいたいようなシチュエーションでもある。
いや、そんな間抜けなシーン、
曲にするわけないか。
昔
ランディ・ニューマンを関西弁に見事に訳した文章を
どこかで見つけたことがある。
本物のランディ・ニューマンは無理でも
関西のランディ・ニューマンなら
してくれるかもしれない。
その素晴らしい訳文をつくっていたのは
細馬宏通さんだと聞いたことがある。
ぼくの記憶が間違っていなければ
細馬さんとぼくは一度だけお会いしたことがある。
何年か前、
バンヒロシさんにお呼ばれして行った京都でのDJイベント。
たぶん、そこで。
そのあと
一通メールもいただいたと思うのだが
古いPCで受けたメールだったため
今はもう証拠がない。
細馬宏通さんは滋賀県立大学の教授で
“かえる目”という名前で活動するシンガー・ソングライターでもある。
先日
そのサード・アルバム「拝借」を聴いた。
「マンガ都市」という曲に打たれた。
